Sustainability

Traveling by bus is one of the most environmentally friendly ways to travel. One of the main reasons being that there are less emissions when many travel together. Only trains are less of a strain on the environment.

Because of the constant development of buses and fuels, today's buses are considerably more environmentally friendly compared to the older models. The greatest environmental impact from buses is from the use of diesel fuel. Today, diesel is often combined with renewable fuels such as ethanol and rapeseed methyl ester (RME). However, there are buses that have been adapted to run only on so-called environmentally friendly fuels.

The alternatives available today are ethanol, methanol, dimethyl ether (DME), RME, natural gas, biogas and hydrogen gas. All of the alternatives are in use today, though not to the same extent. In the future, we are liable to see more alternative fuels in use both due to both the environmental aspect as well as the economical benefits for the bus carriers.

Cityterminalen and the environment
Stockholms Terminal AB plays an active role in trying to minimize the company's impact on the environment. We strive to be as environmentally friendly as our buses. At Cityterminalen we aim to lessen our use of energy and everday items. We recycle our garbage, choose more environmentally viable alternatives whenever possible and also make demands on the bus carriers, our subcontractors and business partners.
